We're incredibly fortunate to partner this semester with the PBS series, "Roadtrip Nation," a national program that empowers young people to explore a wide variety of career options by talking to leaders in the fields students are interested in. Our project "Roadtrip Nation: HTH" focuses on three essential questions:
- What interests you? How can you "mash up" your interests and skills to pursue learning and earning throughout your life?
- How have adults figured out how to build a career around their own unique combination of interests and skills to answer the question: What Can I Do With My Life?
- Where locally, nationally, and internationally would you like to go?
Students will work through these questions by forming small groups and hitting the road — both locally and further afield — to interview people doing interesting work. Ultimately, each group will produce a documentary and a print magazine reflecting what they've learned.
As an integral part of this project, we've alloted the week of March 12-16 for students to plan and take a small group road trip outside of San Diego. Your contribution will help pay for gas and cover some of the travel costs for each student on our team.
